During the '60s I read an extraordinary book that influenced what my life would become.

The book was "On the Road",

by Jack Karouac.

Even though I was female, I wanted to travel and have amazing adventures like Dean Moriarty.  I was voted "Girl with the most Personality" in my graduating class of 554, in 1966, Springfield North High School, Springfield, Ohio (yes, me and the Simpsons).  I also began my first year of college at Witenberg University there too (Arts and Science major).  However, that was interupted because I was walking down the aisle in a wedding gown.

I really am an authentic former hippy - minus the "free love",

because I was very freshly married then, which lasted 39 years.

Now I am a widow.

My husband, Frank,

died 4/20/05.

We spent 22 years and 4 months with the United States Army.

He served in Vietnam, 25th Infantry Division (Electric Pineapple),

 Cu-Chi base camp, 1966-1968.

We traveled extensively; lived 9 years in Europe, 1 in Korea and several of the United States.

where his brother (Nick) delivered him (section 66, grave 882).

During our time in the military I worked for The United States Army Recreation Services Department; both in Europe and Korea. I taught a variety of classes to off-duty soldiers and their dependants; such as hand built pottery, paper crafts, caligraphy, collage, water colors, off-loom weaving, and handmade book-making.  A large body of my artwork was also distributed behind.

My husband retired from active duty July 31, 1986. We moved to Toledo, Ohio where we soon discovered The Collingwood Arts Center. It was in its formative stage at that time and having lived in Europe we were impressed with its gothic grandeaur. I rented a studio there in 1987 and began a whole new life.

I continue painting and writing poetry in my modest, little, studio and have shared my creative abilities with many others at The Collingwood Arts Center nearing twenty years now. My work is primarily abstract expressionism. It is very stylized using primary colors and a rather Zen concept in its approach. Because of my travels I have been established as an international artist.

On a local level, my work has formerly been accepted at one of the annual juried Toledo Museum of Art shows, Crosby Gardens, Artomatic 419 and it decorates the walls of many people's homes as I traveled and locally.

You'll find me browsing thrift shops and flea markets

as it's one of my favorite activities besides painting.

I love collecting object d'art, unusual papers, little boxes, used art books,

and am ALWAYS looking for second-hand and unused art supplies.  My favorite television is PBS, am fascinated with ancient history, appreciate popular culture, and tending my private, little, Zen garden, many house plants and peaceful aquarium. I love reading and writing Haiku and spend a lot of time thinking GREEN.
